Biography
Dr. A. Q. Rana, Director, Parkinson's Clinic of Eastern Toronto & Movement Disorders Centre; Founding & Former Editor-in-chief, Journal of Parkinsonism and RLS; Founder & Former Chair, World Parkinson's Program; is one of the Organizing Committee Members for the 4th International Conference on Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders (Parkinsons Disease 2017) which is held during November 27- 28, 2017 at Atlanta, USA. Dr. Rana completed his neurology residency at the New Jersey Neurosciences Institute, USA, where he trained under Dr. Arthur S. Walters, a world renowned neurologist. For further training in the field of Parkinson's disease and Movement Disorders Dr. Rana undertook a clinical fellowship at the University of Ottawa, Canada. Dr.Rana published extensively in the field of Parkinson's disease, Movement disease and Neurology. Dr. Rana was honored with the Wayne Hening Award for his research on Parkinson's disease and Restless Legs Syndrome. He was also awarded an honorary fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) of the United Kingdom. Dr. Rana developed many educational programs for Parkinson's disease. He is the founder of The World Parkinson's Education Program which was started in the year 2008. Dr. Rana's objectives for the World Parkinson's Education Program were enhancing knowledge by imparting education about various aspects of Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson's TEAM RANA initiative to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease was also started in various countries.
