Biography
Jacob O. Midiwo attained a BSc degree at the University of Nairobi while his PhD training was at the University of Maryland at College Park, USA. He has been a lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, University of Nairobi since 1981. Prof. Midiwo has been involved in Phytochemistry research for more than three decades in Nairobi. The families of plants he has studied in some detail include Polygonaceae, Myrsinaceae, Compositae, Papilionaceae and other isolated genera and species. A particular area of interest is the study of plants with aerial flavonoid / terpenoid surface exudates: their biogenetic origin and potential application.
